The
convention committee has been working hard to make the
81st Annual West Virginia State Firemen's convention a
reality. Plan on visiting with old friends and
renewing friendships at the convention. The dates are
August 20th, 21st and 22nd, 2009. We hope to see you
here!
Two
motels will be housing visiting firemen. The Comfort
Inn located at
401-37th St.
, Parkersburg
(approx 1 mile south of the Grand Pointe Conference
& Reception Center), 304-424-5300, at $79.00 plus
tax and the Wyngate, 1502 Grand Central Ave.,Vienna
(walking distance and in the same parking lot as the
Grand Pointe), 304-295-5501, $82.00 plus tax. . Please
make your reservations before July 19, 2009 as all
rooms not taken by that date will be given to other
travelers.
The
following is a list of activities that have been
planned with times to be confirmed later:
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 19TH:
Meet your hosts from
Vienna
at a fish fry at the Williamstown American Legion. Also, a
Night Glow Golf tournament at Mini Bel Golf Course- $2 entry
fee. Money will be donated to the Scholarship Fund. Limited
to 36 participants. Fire personnel and their family only.
THURSDAY, AUGUST 20TH:
The convention begins at the
Grand
Pointe
Conference & Reception
Center
,
1500 Grand Central Ave.
,
Vienna
at 9:00am. NOON: The Chief's Luncheon will
also be held at the
Grand
Pointe
Conference & Reception
Center
. P.M.: We will wind down the day at the
Dils
River
Park
for a Bar-B-Q .
FRIDAY, AUGUST 21ST:
A Memorial Service is planned at
Wayside
United
Methodist
Church
,
3001 Grand Central Ave.
,
Vienna
. P.M.: The day will conclude with the
annual banquet to be held at the
Grand
Pointe
Conference & Reception
Center
.
SATURDAY,
AUGUST 22ND: Meetings will be held at the
Grand
Pointe
Conference & Reception
Center
starting at 9:00pm.
Our
auxiliary are in the process of planning activities for
visiting women. There will be more information about this at
a later date.
A
vendor area will be set up at the conference center. Prices
for events and vendors are not finalized at this time. We
will inform you as soon as we can.
